Should the 22nd Amendment Be Repealed?

Unit 4-The Presidency
March 3 2015

In 1951 the 22nd amendment was ratified by the states. The 22nd amendment limits  the terms a president is allowed to run (2 terms). Many say that this intrudes the right for a chance to redeem themselves (the president) from the mistakes that they have done in office. The 22nd amendment was passed after FDR had served four terms. A representative from the house wants the amendment repealed, Jose Serrano, proposed to have the amendment to be appealed during Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barrack Obama administration.

Repeal the 22 Amendment

Many believe that the 22nd amendment is to help the president from recieving to much power. People are greatful for the 22nd amendment because a person would not be able to tell whether a president would be doing their job correctly. It prevents presidents from being scandalous like Nixon, Harding, and Clinton.

For it

These articles are related to Unit four- the Presidnecy because it explains the views of people if the 22nd amendment was repealed. It is in the constitution that a president is only allowed to run for office twice. Though many believe that the 22nd amendment should be repealed it barely made it to the floor. The unit goes into depth on how much power the president can recieve. If the the 22nd amendment was repealed it could be chaotic.
