Are earlier primaries good?

Unit 3
March 1 2015

Many wonder if holding the primary or caucus makes a difference. It does. Arizona has pushed for an earlier primary election and has been approved from the house. It is now being held three weeks earlier than it was. The bill was originally calling it to extend to May because it would be a long election campaign. One republican candidate, John Kasich,  has traveled to South Carolina to campaign.  South Carolina is one of the few states that hold early primary. It also lets the voters to get to know the candidates longer. Since it is much longer the voters get and extend time to get to know the candidates. Voter turnout in Kansas had one of its local primary elections to be historically low. As the voters were not going because of weather or did not know much information of the candidates. Kansa does not have early primaries.

Other say its an unfair advantage point to the not so  noticeable  candidate. The wealthier candidates can use earlier primary as earlier campaigning. While  the  other candidate may not have as much money to keep campaigning as long. Earlier primary defeats the purpose as the primaries are to be hold on  Jan. 31. But those who move up their  dates loose delegates. It is a consequence for the states who have broken the rules.

This topic is related to the unit because it has to do with the dates of when the primary election dates change. It also affects the candidates who do not get notice as much as the other candidates do. It talks about the primaries can also affect the voters views on other. It talks about how Kansas is has a low turnout because of weather or because how little they know about candidates.
